Dr. Wilson is a research scientist in the HIV Epidemiology Section of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Dr. Wilson’s specific areas of expertise include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) health and HIV risk among marginalized adolescents and young adults, developed over more than a decade of work. Dr. Wilson is one of a small number of HIV researchers who has experience with the transgender community domestically and internationally. In fact, Dr. Wilson was responsible for developing, obtaining funding, and conducting the first large study of transgender female youth in the U.S. and the first HIV risk study of transwomen in Nepal. Dr. Wilson also has methodological expertise in qualitative and evaluation research, and in mixed methods study designs. She hopes to use all these skills to create data that supports evidence-based approaches to prevention for transgender women, youth and other populations at risk for HIV.

Dr. Wilson’s favorite colors are BLACK and GOLD.
