Peer Advocacy

  • Provides emotional and practical support to women (trans inclusive) living with HIV/AIDS. Emotional support includes anything from a shoulder to cry on, to a listening ear, to a referral to a support group or therapist.

Political Advocacy and Organizing

  • U.S. Positive Women’s Network, a project of WORLD, is a network of HIV-positive women and our allies working to improve the quality of women’s lives by supporting HIV-positive women as leaders and sparking federal policy change.

Speakers Bureau

  • Trains members to speak and advocate for the rights of those living with HIV and to prevent new HIV infections through public speaking on issues that relate to living with HIV and risk for HIV infection, especially among women and girls.

  • WORLD holds semi-annual retreats for HIV+ women in the Spring and Fall held at a location within 2 hours of Oakland. Each 3-day retreat provides up to 40 women with a holistic experience that includes treatment education workshops, stress management, art activities, support groups, safer sex information, and discussions on topics including disclosure and stigma.
